Welcome to Bar Ambigu, a tapas bar that is just a bit different from the rest. The owners are from the northwest Spanish province of Galicia, famed for its seafood as well as meats. You will find traditional Andalucian tapas here but also dishes typical of the northwest coast of Spain. The house specialty is "Pulpo Gallega" (slow-cooked octopus and potato with sweet and spicy paprika) All tapas and dishes are made fresh daily. The wines are sourced from the finest parts of Spain, including La Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Jerez. You will also find a good selection of wines from Ronda as well. Located only five minutes walk from the main cathedral in the old part of Ronda, you can enjoy the views of Ronda and the mountains from the bar's spacious terrace. No need to worry about the language, the owner Jorge speaks English, not fluently, but enough to get by.
If you like octopus, Galician style, you will not find a better place in Ronda, nor in all of Andalucia to enjoy this famous regional dish. Owner and chef Laura has been cooking in bars and restaurants for over 20 years and has perfected this classic seafood. Some places are known to cook the octopus in advance and then heat it up in a microwave. Not at Bar Ambigu. Laura won't have it. She believes in delivering the finest quality. It takes more time and effort but she believes the results are worth it. Just ask some of her customers who come from Ronda and surrounding villages to enjoy "Pulpo Gallega".
Tapas made fresh daily. Quails eggs, potato salad with tuna, tomato and green pepper, chorizo, lamb, chicken, pork skewers - grilled to order. Portobello mushrooms, pork loin stuffed with jamón serrano, pancetta. In addition, you will find special, seasonal dishes.
Whites, reds and roses from the finest regions of Spain. You can also enjoy "orujo blanco" and "orujo tostado", both delicious (and strong) Galician liquors, only available in Ronda at Bar Ambigu.
Cerveza? Of course. This is southern Spain afterall. Ice cold lager by the glass or bottle, with or without alcohol. There is also a draft shandy, if you are so inclined. By the way, the guy serving the lager is Jorge. His wife and chef, Laura, is pictured below.
*** A NOTE ABOUT THE TAPA ABOVE "Chorizo by Jessica"

Awhile ago, an American lady, on her first trip to Spain, walked into Bar Ambigu. Her name was Jessica. She ordered the Galician sausage sandwich, "chorizo Torroña". Jessica returned the next day and ordered the chorizo again but asked if she could have a piece of freshly sliced local cheese added to the sandwich. Laura said: Por que no? (Why not).
Laura also tried the chorizo with cheese as did her two waitresses. They liked it so much, it is now on the menu.
